Founded by Ashley Zimmer, owner of K9Pawzbilities, our rescue program was built on the belief that every good dog deserves a second chance. Most of our rescue dogs come from high-kill shelters throughout Riverside County, California, with occasional owner surrenders. Many dogs end up in shelters due to behavioral challenges, limited access to professional training, financial hardships, or a lack of veterinary care. We believe that with the right training, guidance, and support, these dogs can become incredible companions and have a much better chance of finding lasting homes. Unlike traditional rescue organizations, we are not a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every dog we rescue is supported through our own personal time, funds, and resources, driven by our passion for making a difference, one dog at a time.
Our mission is simple: rescue good dogs, give them the training they need, and help them find their forever homes. We believe training is one of the most valuable tools in keeping dogs out of shelters and setting them up for lifelong success. Every dog in our program receives basic obedience and e-collar training, with most also learning on- and off-leash skills before adoption. But our commitment doesn't end when a dog goes home. We provide lifetime trainer support to our adopters, helping ensure every dog and their new family have the tools, confidence, and guidance to thrive together. Because rescue isn't just about saving a dog's life—it's about giving them the foundation for a better one.

Looking For Something Specific?
Find Your Perfect Match
Don't see your perfect pup among our available rescues? We're here to help! At K9Pawzbilities, we believe finding the right dog is about more than just looks—it's about finding a companion that truly fits your lifestyle. Through our rescue program, we have the ability to pull dogs from high-kill shelters based on your specific preferences, including breed, age, sex, temperament, and activity level.
Fill out our Adoption Inquiry Form to tell us a little about yourself and what you're looking for in a four-legged companion. We'll use your information to help identify potential matches and give a deserving shelter dog a second chance at finding their forever home! Adoption fees begin at $1,500.
At K9Pawzbilities, our goal is to create lasting, successful matches between our rescue dogs and their forever families. Our adoption process begins with 1–2 meet and greets, depending on whether other animals are involved, to ensure everyone is comfortable and compatible. Once a potential match is found, we require a two-week trial period to give both you and your new companion time to adjust and make sure it's the right fit.
Every adoption also includes two professional training sessions to help establish a strong foundation and make the transition into your home as smooth as possible. Plus, as part of the K9Pawzbilities family, you'll receive discounted boarding and training services for life! Our commitment doesn't end at adoption—we're here to support you and your pup every step of the way.
Adoption Process
Owner Surrender?
We understand that life circumstances can change, and sometimes finding a new home for your dog becomes necessary. At K9Pawzbilities, we offer limited owner surrender opportunities, with the capacity to accept only 1–3 dogs at a time. To ensure the safety of our team and the dogs in our care, we are unable to accept dogs with a bite history or those displaying aggression toward people or other dogs.
For owners seeking help with rehoming, we offer a discounted 4-week Board & Train program, where we will assess your dog's temperament, provide professional training, and work to place them in a suitable forever home upon completion. Owners are responsible for providing food, flea prevention, and all necessary veterinary care for up to three months, unless the dog is adopted sooner. Availability is limited, so please submit an inquiry to learn more about our surrender and rehoming options.
